Covert Submission - JLG

"Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for — in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it." (Ellen Goodman)

As with everything in life, balance is of great importance. So responsibility is not the culprit — slavery is. The loss of choice and mobility has taken on a different form in our day. One must realize that because slavery no longer fits the stereotypical image ingrained in our minds does not mean it no longer exists. The chains that now bind us are impalpable, invisible, and most regrettably of all — self-imposed. Ours is the age of the lie, and so it awaits us at every turn. The dealer ensures that first helping is free. From then out out, it sells itself, and it'll be you knocking at his door for more. Beware of that false idol, crowned and placed on a pedestal by society at large, that most villainous of culprits — credit.
